Privacy Policy
Version 2 · Effective: October 2026
1. Core Principle: Local Core Control, Cloud Services on Demand
KMBridge runs locally on your device. Your configuration, room and device names, automation rules, logs, and AI conversations stay on your device; we have no access to them.
KNX, Matter, HomeKit, and the local web interface operate within your local network. The "Allow internet access" master switch ships turned off by default and connects to online services only when you enable it.
2. Data Processed When Online Features Are Enabled
Only when you explicitly enable internet access and specific online features will the device send data necessary to provide those features (which you can view or turn off anytime under System → Network):
- Network Time: Sends standard time requests to public or user-specified time servers (which can see your public IP).
- License Activation & Updates: Sends the activation code, device and hardware identifiers (e.g., serial numbers, MAC addresses, device fingerprint), system overview, firmware version, update status, and IP address to verify licensing, support device replacement, and deliver updates. Offline activation is also available without internet access.
- Remote Access: Sends device identifiers, service tickets, and version info to establish an encrypted connection and keeps basic connection metadata. Our relay nodes only forward traffic and do not store your remote session content.
- AI Assistant: Sends your prompts and necessary device context. With your own API key, requests go directly from your device to your chosen provider without passing through us. With our AI subscription, requests are forwarded through our service to model providers that do not train on your data; we record usage only and do not store conversations (only requests blocked by safety filters keep a short-term encrypted excerpt to handle appeals and abuse).
- Error Reports & Support: Only when you choose "Send report" on an error notice (the device shows the full contents beforehand; when offline, you can download the report to send yourself), submit a diagnostic bundle, or contact support do we receive the submitted logs, fault details, and contact information for troubleshooting.
- Website & Portal: When you visit our website or use the integrator/reseller portal, we process necessary account and sign-in details, customer license ownership info registered by resellers, and basic server access logs. Our website uses no advertising or tracking cookies.
When you connect the device to third-party ecosystems (such as Apple Home, Google Home, or Amazon Alexa), or connect to third-party AI providers with your own key or public time servers, their respective privacy policies govern their data processing.
3. Data Use, Storage, and Security
- Purpose Limitation: We process data solely to provide the services you enable, perform our Terms of Use, maintain security, and prevent license abuse. We never sell your data, use it for advertising, or build user profiles.
- Storage & Cross-Border Transfer: Online services are protected by encrypted connections and device signatures, and are hosted on cloud infrastructure (including servers in Europe and China). By enabling online services, you understand that necessary data will be transmitted to these servers to fulfill the service.
- Retention: We retain data only for as long as necessary to provide the requested services, verify active licenses, and comply with applicable legal obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
4. Your Rights, Changes, and Contact
- Access & Control: You can stop data transmission at any time by disabling online features on the device, or erase local data via Factory Reset. Under applicable law, you may request to access, copy, correct, or delete data we hold about you, or withdraw consent. Email privacy@kmbridge.net (we may ask for your device fingerprint or activation code to verify ownership) and we will reply within 15 working days.
- Audience & Changes: KMBridge is intended for adults and professional installers, not for minors. This policy is updated as the product evolves, with the latest version published on our website and bundled with firmware updates; if a material change affects how data is processed, we will provide notice on our website or device interface.
